What happens if someone files a complaint about my business with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation?
If someone files a complaint about your business the first thing that will occur is the department will initiate an investigation. You’ll be notified of the investigation and provided an opportunity to respond. After that point, probable cause might be found. If probable cause is found, an administrative complaint will be filed against your license. This administrative complaint remains public record, and as a result of that complaint, the board may impose discipline ranging from fines to revocation of your license. Therefore, if you find yourself in this situation, I recommend contacting an attorney experienced with administrative procedure to assist you with this process and make sure that your needs are being met.
